Hurray…I have finally completed my book!

We are screaming! It is quite exciting, to say the least. My very first book; “Lessons from My Father” has finally been completed. The journey has been long and yet quite interesting.

11 years ago, I embarked on a writing project. Shortly after my father died, I searched my heavy and broken heart for a solution to overcome the grief. My pain just seemed to increase day by day.

As I passed by elderly men while walking on the street, I couldn't help but question why my dad had to die earlier. He could have been alive today for me to enjoy his company as an elderly man. I met my friend’s fathers too and envied my friends. I always told them how blessed they were to have their fathers alive. I was selfish!

Well, “A Father’s Journey” was written as a little unpublished booklet. The whole idea was for me to relieve the memories and relive the moments, I did!

I have since expounded on the little booklet, now turned; into "Lessons From My Father."

Something weird happened while writing this book 2 years into writing, I hit a plateau. I just could not complete the book. I was bored!

First forward, 2020 or Tweny Tweny…as referred to in our country Uganda, was one confusing year. Everything came to a standstill…with me stuck in my house. Waking up on a daily to eat, do house chores and sleep once again.

This happened for a week until I listened to one influential preacher who said something profound.

Sitting by and doing nothing as you wait for the lockdown to end is a colossal waste of time…do something you have always wanted to do, or learn something new.” He said!

Suddenly the shells were off my eyes. I started to dream about the writing project I had abandoned a few years ago. I decided to revive it, giving myself a target for December 2020. Well, this did not happen but interestingly, there was an urgency within me to complete the project. As if something was pushing me to get done with it.

December came and hardly had I gone halfway. I prayed and asked for more time to complete the book. 2021 was another opportunity to do more as we were locked down again. I used this time to read other authors and while at it, I was inspired to complete. Finally as we speak, I have the completed book with me.

Completion is quite an accomplishment in itself. The story of creation really shows how God felt about completion. It is said that every after He completed the creation of something after a day, He looked back and was pleased with it.

Well, I am excited to be a co-creator with God. I have only discovered this during this journey of writing. I am also happy to have completed the project, a rare thing that many yearn to do yet many have done. I have concluded that work half-done is not godly, and I do not want to be in this situation with work half done. I would rather not start at all. But then again, not starting at all is cowardly…

"Lessons From My Father" is here!!!

It is a story of my fathers indelibble impact on my life, a reflection of the Heavenly Father's deep love for us all.

I invite you to walk with me through this journey as I share tit bits of my book with you!

  5. Well done girl. Writing and reading are the twin sisters that enhance knowledge yet are therapeutic. But completing a feat is yet another achievement. Remember the saying: the higher the hurdle the greater the achievement? Well done and looking forward to reading your baby.
